FAQ
When are you going to open?
Update: We should be opening in February 2026!
why all the delays?
The initial delay was zoning. Our spot in Mackenzie village was not zoned for a brewery, so we had to get that changed. How hard could that be? lol - so hard. We had hoped to slide the zoning change in as part of the provincially mandated citywide zoning update, but that didn’t happen because of… reasons. Our zoning amendment had to wait until after the citywide zoning update that was originally scheduled to be done in January 2025, but the update got pushed to late April, so the amendment approval got pushed to May 2025. At the May meeting, CoR council decided that a public consultation was needed, which pushed things into June. Feedback from the public consultation was overwhelmingly positive, and Council approved the zoning change on June 24. Zoning is life*.
We received our building permit on oct. 7, and have been going full-tilt since then. A couple of major snags have come up that are out of our control. hvac is the biggest one, followed closely by our hookup to bc hydro. it’s worth mentioning that the contractor we hired to do our electrical work has been fantastic - it’s a different contractor doing the hookup. the hvac install was supposed to be finished a while ago, but we apparently aren’t a priority for the contractor. that said, we’re not the ones paying for the work, so…
*which begs the question, why didn’t we choose a location with the correct zoning already in place? Well, Revelstoke has a commercial vacancy rate of less than 1%, and over the last year we have seen exactly 1 rental property that might have worked for our needs, and it was actually a bit on the big side for what we were comfortable with.
WHat’s Happening Now?
with almost every contractor off work from Dec. 19 - jan. 5, we’ll be finishing up the bathrooms [TP dispensers, grab bars, etc.], the bar area and the draft system over the next couple of weeks. We’ll be working with minimal light and heat, so please send us bright and warm vibes!
We’re also going through more licensing stuff at the Federal [excise], provincial [food service] and municipal [business license] levels.
Despite the delays, we are committed to getting the brewery open this winter and providing you with tasty beverages to enjoy!
what kind of beer will you have?
So far, the tap list is looking like this:
Japanese-style Lager
Dark Mild
Pale Ale
West Coast IPA
HAZY [maybe 2!]
Porter
Seltzer [both hard and soft]
Radler
Kombucha [non-alc]
Red wine
White Wine
Gluten-free Beer
Things will evolve as we get to know our guests’ preferences. We’re confident you’ll find something you like.
will there be food?
yes, we will have a selection of food available. However, we’re not big enough to have a full kitchen set up, so we’re looking at dogs, pretzels, etc.
is outside food allowed?
yes! You can bring in pretty much whatever you want. sandwiches from little spoon, having a pizza delivered to the taproom, a bag of chips from summit market are all fair game. hell, if you want to cook something at home and bring it to the taproom for dinner, please do! Note that we don’t have a microwave or plates or utensils.
are outside drinks allowed?
nope. We’ll have alcoholic, non-alcoholic, and gluten-free beverages for sale. Filtered water is free!
Dogs on the patio?
Conditional yes - we’re going to try and make it happen, but it depends on what our liquor license allows.
