FAQ

When are you going to open? [FFS]

Good question! A bunch of stuff needs to happen first, such as floor reinforcement [beer is heavy, despite all the bubbles], licensing, permits, interior buildout, etc.

Labour Day is a maybe. Thanksgiving seems more likely at the rate we’re going.

why all the delays?

The main delay has been zoning. Our spot in Mackenzie village was not zoned for a brewery, so we had to get that changed. How hard could that be? lol - so hard. We had hoped to slide the zoning change in as part of the provincially mandated citywide zoning update, but that didn’t happen because of… reasons. Our zoning amendment had to wait until after the citywide zoning update that was originally scheduled to be done in January 2025, but the update got pushed to late April, so the amendment approval got pushed to May 2025. At the May meeting, CoR council decided that a public consultation was needed, so now we’re into June. Without the correct zoning, we can’t finalize our provincial manufacturer license, our city liquor license or even a building permit. Zoning is life*.

other than zoning, any delays are due entirely to our lack of experience with starting a brick-and-mortar business from scratch. so, mea culpa.

*which begs the question, why didn’t we choose a location with the correct zoning already in place? Well, Revelstoke has a commercial vacancy rate of less than 1%, and over the last year we have seen exactly 1 rental property that might have worked for our needs, and it was actually a bit on the big side for what we were comfortable with.

what kind of beer will you have?

we’re going to make what our friends and neighbours want to drink. we’ll start with some basics, like a blonde, a hazy, an ipa and something dark. other than that, we’ll try things out and see what people like. We’ll have a couple of gluten-free options too, and non-alcoholic drinks that aren’t crazy sweet.

will there be food?

yes, we will have a selection of food available. However, we’re not big enough to have a full kitchen set up, so…

is outside food allowed?

yes, you can bring in pretty much whatever you want. sandwiches from little spoon, pizza from the den, a bag of chips from summit market are all fair game. hell, if you want to cook a meatloaf or casserole at home and bring it to the taproom for dinner, please do!

are outside drinks allowed?

nope. we’ll have alcoholic, non-alcoholic, and gluten-free beverages for sale. filtered water is free.

Dogs on the patio?

Conditional yes - we’re going to try and make it happen, but it depends on what the city says.
